Some amazing footage from Bowie’s 1974 tour in support of the great Diamond Dogs LP. As Dangerous Minds points out, this BBC documentary helps to pull back the veil on a pivotal moment in his career, in which:

His relationship with his wife, Angie, was beginning to falter, there was business problems looming, and he was addicted to cocaine, which caused “severe physical debilitation, paranoia and emotional problems.

(We’re just getting started with Bowie in the ’70s clips, BTW…)

This clip of Bowie appearing on a classic BBC television show in the early ’70s, as well as the host’s wonderfully dated introduction, are presented without comment: “This is the face the public wants. An ex-art student from Brixton whose dad worked for Dr Barnardo’s Homes has turned himself into a bizarre, self-constructed freak.”
