Cat Power Covers Oasis – “Wonderwall”
One of a handful of recordings from the sessions for Chan Marshall’s 2000 Cat Power album, The Covers Record, that were left off the 12-track set and later revealed on the late John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show. If you haven’t heard this — or Ryan Adams’ — take on Oasis’ 1995 smash hit before, prepare for the realization that Liam Gallagher’s vocal stripped this amazing tune of nearly all its inherently poignant despair and longing.
